Terms & Conditions
Updated October 2022
Please read the following terms and conditions before making payments for lessons, in paying for lessons you are in agreement to the following terms:
1. Payments
1.1 I do not offer refunds - please consider the annual commitment to fees and a minimum of 39 lessons each year.
1.2 Reduced rate - In order to receive the reduced lesson rate, lessons must run alongside the school terms - a minimum of 39 weeks for weekly students, and 20 lessons for fortnightly Saturday students, extra lessons can be purchased outside of school term times. Lessons must be paid for by the end of the previous term to secure your recurring lesson time slot.
1.3 Payment Deadlines - when the payment deadline is missed, the higher rate will then be paid to factor admin time and to retain your lesson time slot.
1.4 Lesson fees are just for my teaching time, they do not cover any books, resources or exam fees.
2. Rescheduling lessons
When paying for lessons, (especially lessons after 3pm), you are paying to have a recurring slot from my schedule each week and a set amount of lessons over the year. I run alongside the state primary and secondary school term dates and I cannot refund lessons students are unable to make due to other commitments or holidays. If you require lessons to run alongside private school term dates, a peripatetic teacher at your school may be more suitable.
2.1 Rescheduling lessons - due to being a remote teacher - I cannot offer lesson rearrangements or swaps so please try to commit and prioritise your weekly piano lesson. The only exception are students at the end of my teaching day who I can sometimes rearrange lessons for with enough notice. (please note this applies to after school lesson times, there is much more freedom for lessons before 3pm)
2.2 Lessons cannot be carried over into the next term or into half term breaks.
2.3 If I miss a lesson due to illness or unforeseen circumstances - I will always offer to rearrange on another day, weekend or half term break.
2.4 Due to having a full and busy schedule that works based on the locations of my students - I can not guarantee either temporary or permanent lesson time changes.
3. Lesson times
3.1 Lesson time slots are an estimated time - please leave time before and after the lesson slot you have reserved. If you need a set specific time, a teacher with a studio that you can visit may be more suitable. If I am more than 15 minutes behind schedule - I will do my best to contact you to let you know.
3.2 Lesson time starts once I arrive at the students house or sign in online.
3.3 Permits - If you live in a parking permit area, it is the responsibility of the student to provide the correct parking permits.
4. Termination of lessons
4.1 If you wish to permanently stop lessons, please give 1 terms notice - this can be done at the time of paying your invoice.
4.2 If I have to terminate lessons, I will give a minimum of a months notice
4.3 If T&C’s are not adhered to, I can choose to terminate lessons with immediate effect.
5. Practice
5.1 Students must commit to practice between lessons, this should be a minimum of 4 times each week, the amount of time will be set by the teacher and dependent on the student ability, age and level of playing.
5.2 The Tonara app is recommended to record practice sessions and to allow me to see how students are spending their time at the piano. The Tonara app has an annual fee of £20 and will be added to invoices.
5.3 If I don’t feel enough practice is being completed, I will choose whether to enter or withdraw students from ABRSM exams.
5.4 If students are unable to commit to practice and progress is stunted, lessons may be terminated.
Coronavirus
I will switch between online lessons and lessons in person dependent on the local figures and national guidelines - all previous T&C’s still apply. Whilst cases are high in the area, I may have to reduce the amount of visiting lessons I do. If you would not be happy with online lessons, please do not commit to paying for upfront lessons and refer to 4.1.
